The Best Place to Train is also One of the Best Places to Live

Future helicopter and airline pilots who choose us for their flight training come from over 75 countries, and most are unfamiliar with the Pacific Northwest region that we call home. But they quickly fall in love with the area, for good reason: it’s not only the best place to train, but also one of the best places to live.

Two of our campuses, Hillsboro and Troutdale, are situated directly to the west and east of Portland, OR, which was just named to U.S. News and World Report’s prestigious Best Places to Live report for the second year in a row. Portland’s youthful population and vibrant culture make it a mecca for those who love great food, great nightlife, and easy access to some of the best outdoor recreation on the planet, from hiking to rafting to skiing and everything in between.

But of course, you’re coming here to fly, right? That’s where we really shine. For our airplane students in Hillsboro, the diverse weather conditions and geographical features add up to the well-rounded flight experience that airlines are seeking. Our students encounter instrument flying conditions in the air, not in a simulator, and that’s something that flight schools in sunny climates simply can’t provide.

For our helicopter students, adventure awaits at our Troutdale campus on the edge of the spectacular Columbia River Gorge. Students get the chance to practice off-airport landings on public lands in a stunning forested landscape, but the opportunity to land on an urban helipad in the busy Portland airspace is equally accessible. It truly is the best of both worlds.

And if that’s not enough, our Redmond, OR campus offers abundant sunshine in a high desert landscape among breathtaking Cascade peaks.
