ATLANTA, GEORGIA — Hillsboro Heli Academy, the helicopter training division of Hillsboro Aero Academy, is proud to announce the approval of its newest Robinson R22 helicopter, marking the first purchase order in a broader fleet renewal program designed to support the next generation of helicopter pilots.
The agreement was signed during VERTICON in Atlanta this week, highlighting the academy’s continued collaboration with Robinson Helicopter Company and its commitment to maintaining the R22 as a core training aircraft.
The new aircraft represents a major milestone in Hillsboro Heli Academy’s long-term initiative to renew and modernize its helicopter fleet, while maintaining the accessibility and affordability of its training programs.
“Our relationship with Robinson began in 1980, just one year after the Robinson R22 received its certification. Starting with a single R22, our company believed in the Robinson product from the very beginning,” said Jared Friend, VP of Helicopter Operations at Hillsboro Heli Academy. “Today, with Robinson’s renewed commitment to the R22, we remain equally committed to providing affordable, high-quality training for our students for many years to come.”
The R22 is recognized as one of the most widely used training helicopters due to its efficiency, reliability, and cost-effectiveness. By continuing to invest in this aircraft, Hillsboro Heli Academy reinforces its dedication to offering high-quality training while keeping helicopter flight education accessible to aspiring pilots.
The addition of the newly approved R22 ensures that Hillsboro Heli Academy can continue delivering safe, efficient training while preparing students for careers across the global helicopter industry.
